the "lifestyle phase" + are you coming?
HEY SUGAR PIE HONEY BUN!!
One of the biggest reasons diets don't work (and maybe the reason as to why you haven't lost weight for the last time) is because DIETS HAVE AN END DATE.
75 hard.
21 day fix.
Whole 30.
OR just name any good old fashioned diet. They all have an end date even if a number isn't in their title.
You go balls out for a certain amount of days and then you are done.
And then we all know what happens next.
Yes, some of these programs have the familiar "lifestyle phase" attached to them. But we all know what happens in the lifestyle phase.
As long as you have a human brain you will need to practice THE SKILL of losing weight / having lost weight, FOREVER.
This is meant to give you sweet sweet relief baby.
This is not meant to make you feel discouraged.
In fact, how encouraging that one of the main reasons you haven't lost weight for the last time is just because you weren't practicing everyday.
Simply because no one freaking told you that this is what it takes.
Practicing is not hard.
Practicing just means writing for 3-5 minutes every day.
You brush your teeth everyday for 3-5 minutes everyday.
It is time to brush your brain everyday.
Why do you have to practice everyday you ask?!
Because you have a human brain and your human brain is wired to:
- seek pleasure (pleasure = cookies!!!)
- avoid pain (pain = saying no to said cookies!!!)
- eat as much food as possible (your lower brain doesn't understand that we do not live in caves anymore and we live in 2023 where food is readily available)
- eat foods (like cookies!) that will give you the biggest dopamine hit (the higher the dopamine hit, the more important your brain thinks the food is in keeping you alive. Foods that give you big dopamine hits = processed foods, foods high in sugar and fat!)
This is literally your brain.
And yes we can change it (that is what we do in the YMX) so that most of the time it is easy to just do yo thang, but your brain will want to revert back to its old sneaky baby ways.
So we must stay on top of our brain, everyday, forever.
You might be like "UUUUGGGHHHH, everyday forever!!?!?!"
But I am all, "GIRL!!!!! it is every day forever for 5 minutes AND it gives you, you weighing what you want (not to mention the wildly awesome health benefits!!!)!!!!!!!!!! That is a VERY low rice to pay for something you want sooooo dang badly!!!! There is literally nothing better!!!"
