STOP beating yourself up...
Beating yourself up, berating yourself, or shaming yourself is just no way to live.
Here’s how to stop:
1️⃣ Notice your beating yourself up (you can do this by noticing the mean thoughts in your head or the feeling of shame/ guilt/ regret in your body)
2️⃣ Say to yourself “oh! this is my cue to switch to LOVE”
3️⃣ Talk to yourself as you would to your best friend or a child
This is what it looks like:
💜 Your brain: “you loser, you ate all that pirates booty and you said you weren’t going to, now you’re never going to get to your goal, what’s wrong with you!?”
💙 Your body: feels heavy, hot shame (or something like it)
💚 You: “oh wow I’m noticing my brain is beating me up and I’m feeling shame, this is the part where Laura says to switch it to LOVE.”
💛 You to your brain: “brain this is not how we treat ourselves anymore. We made a mistake. That’s okay. Mistakes are a part of life and of this process. We are learning. It’s okay.”
🧡 You to your body: “I love you so much, it’s okay you’re feeling shame, I’m here for you, let’s take a few deep breaths. Every moment is a new fresh moment. I love you I love you I love you. Nothing is wrong. You are safe. I love you.”
❤️ Try it! There’s no right or wrong with this practice! Stay curious! When you treat yourself in this way life gets so much better! I mean you’re with yourself like 24/7 last time I checked, so why not make it a loving, fun, safe place to be?!?
