Why Balance is Bullshit
Have you guys seen supermodel/ influencers/ skinny people post on social media about #balance?
This is what it looks like….
They post a photo of their beautiful selves eating a giant bowl of pasta and garlic bread and tiramisu over the weekend and then a second picture of them drinking a green juice on the following Monday.
The caption is all #balance.
Honestly there is no judgement here. Good for the supermodels.
BUT what is the message we normal people get?
The message is that balance means: overeat on the weekends and clean it up on Monday.
OR
The message is you SHOULD be able to eat this way and be thin. And if you can't something is wrong with you and it is just plain unfair.
AND THEN...
You are left feeling confused, like, “this is balance? When I eat like this I don’t FEEL balanced AND I don’t get the results I want permanently, I sure as hell don't look like her.”
So I call bullshit.
This is not balance. At least for most of us.
What is REAL balance?
Real balance is when you FEEL balanced.
What does that feel like?
It feels:
In control.
Free.
Energetic.
Alive.
Light.
You do not get balance by overeating on the weekends and undereating on the weekdays.
You get real balance by STOPPING the cycle of starting and stopping.
