What to do when you eat off plan...
The way out of shame after eating something that was "off plan" is courage.
When you feel shame call on courage.
This might look like admitting something to yourself, telling yourself your biggest secret, or being really vulnerable.
Here are the steps:
notice shame in your body, say "this is shame and that is okay."
ask yourself "how can I be courageous in this moment?"
answer and admit, "I feel shame because I ate the 6 cookies, it is okay I feel that way, let's see why I did that and move on... Oh I did that because my brain told me I deserve a treat for a hard day. I made a mistake but I am not a mistake. I made a choice I don't love, but still I choose to love myself. I can make a different choice next time"
Courage might feel icky but on the other side is freedom and the knowing of what to do next time. And when you know what to do next time and the next time you will lose weight for the last time. Let this be a practice, not a perfect, keep trying, never give up, like never ever ever.
