The Next 5 Days....
Hey Lil Apple Pie of My Eye!
Here are things that will help you this Thanksgiving week (or just in life if you do not celebrate!)....
1. Remember why you are doing Thanksgiving. It is not to eat all the things and feel gross. It is not. What IS it about, in one word? If it is about connection and fun, LET it be about that. It is also NOT about the napkins being ironed and running out for that thing you forgot that is not necessary anyway. Have fun. Relax. Enjoy.
2. How do you want to feel this week? Also, one word. Love, connection, presence, relaxed? Put this word or a representation of it on your mirror or hand or fridge.
3. When you don't feel like the above word, remember, you are allowed to take breaks. You can go to your room, go to the bathroom, go for an all of a sudden v necessary errand, go for a walk. You don't even need an explanation. But if you want one make it up. Maybe you had to poo for 20 minutes. Let them think you had to poo. Take care of yourself.
4. Take me up on the drop the dread dare.... Don't do one thing you are dreading. Literally do not do it. You might feel guilt - that is okay.
5. Are there any boundaries or requests you want to make? You can even make boundaries with yourself. You can even set boundaries and you don't even have to tell anyone about them. Be nice when setting them. I will be requesting to my husband time to work out everyday so I can feel like me.
6. Thanksgiving is one meal. Let it be one meal. Have one nice plate. Enjoy it. Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are satisfied or even a touch before. The end.
7. Let people have their emotions and thoughts. Let them do and be who they are. Let them think what they want about you. You know who you are: you are a goddamned cheetah, not what you SIL thinks of you.
8. Don't be surprised with your MIL when she makes some rude remark. She always does that. Instead surprise yourself with how much you don't care. Boo ya.
9. Build in some time for you. A walk. A yoga sesh. A oddly long shower. Bring your people if you want to or don't.
10. It will all get done. It will. if you are going to do the things, remember you can hate it or enjoy it, choose to enjoy And if it doesn't get done, no one will die. They won't.
Tell me which one you liked best! Tell me how you are going to feel this weekend!?
Have the Best Thanksgiving and Week Ever,
Laura
